Although I am not a very big fan of Lady Gaga I can accept the fact that she has catchy songs and that she isn’t afraid to take a stand. According to an article by the Huffington Post, Lady Gaga paid thousands of dollars to attend a fundraiser event where she knew she would be able to speak to President Obama.
Last week Lady Gaga heard the news that, after years of bullying, one of her fans committed suicide. Jayme Rodemeyer was only 14 years old. Upon hearing this news, she decided to take matters into her own hands to work to make bullying illegal. She brought up the subject in a Q & A with President Obama and he brought forth his own plan to work against bullying. Days later, Gaga performed a song at the iHeartRadio festival and dedicated it to Jayme.
This very recent event hits close to home for many people; whether it is young teens who are struggling with their identity, being bullied, or anyone who has ever been affected by suicide. This is yet another reason we all need to take a stand, just as President Obama and Lady Gaga are.
